These are some of our most special earrings. You'll recognize them from the photograph that you use to click into the historic earring section of our website. Marti has finally decided to part with them. Little Zuni maidens dangle from inlay pottery ollas. They look like little sculptures and come from a style created by Hopi/Tewa potter Daisy Hooee Nampeyo, the wife of Leo Poblano. Intricate inlay has created detailed dresses and bodies (even little tiny faces) on this pair of earrings. They are unsigned, and we're unsure who the expert artist was. They date from the 1940's. From the top of the olla, the earrings measure 1 7/8" long x 3/8" wide. Definitely worthy of being in our Zuni Celebration.
