Water Maiden Kachina by Clark Tenakhongva

X4111
Hopi artist Clark Tenakhongva from Third Mesa emphasizes accuracy and the traditional ways of handcarving kachinas. He makes each kachina the way that his grandfather taught him using only natural pigments and hand tools. This large kachina is his traditional representation of a Bal'hick Mana or "Water Moisture Maiden." She depicts the rain clouds and appears only during the winter ceremonies. According to Clark Tenakhongva, "The headdress she adorns represents all the various clouds and her people." The kachina measures 26" tall x 17" wide. Signed on the feet with Tenakhongva's trademark Rabbit Clan signature. It will arrive with a custom handmade, museum quality stand.
