One of Marti Struever's favorite contemporary Zuni inlay jeweler duos is Shirley and Virgil Benn because their work is so detailed, so lifelike. When Marti was recently in Zuni, she brought back this female clown pin/pendant made by husband and wife team Virgil and Shirley Benn. This piece of jewelry really shows the range of subjects that Zuni jewelers cover in their jewelry. The pin/pendant is inlaid of pink mussel shell, mother of pearl, yellow shell, jet, coral and spondylus. Such a sweet expression is on the clown's face. A unique part of our Zuni celebration. The piece measures 2 1/2" in length x 2 1/4" in width. She is signed on the reverse.
