This classic water jar by Samuel Manymules is the definition of refined elegance. Samuel Manymules is a Navajo potter who has won many awards including the Blue Ribbon Award at Santa Fe Indian Market. He is a self-taught potter working in traditional methods including gathering local clay which is dried, prepared and cured for months. Once Samuel has formed his pottery, he fires it in cedar wood. After firing, Samuel applies refined pinon tree sap to his pottery and finishes it by polishing to a high sheen. The gorgeous dark fireclouds are a hallmark of Samuel's pottery, and they just happen by chance. Notice how beautiful the ones in this piece are. The pot measures 11" high x 13 1/2", and it is hallmarked.
