Here is a very large Navajo basket by Sally Black, one of the most renowned contemporary Navajo basketmakers. It is entitled "night emergence" Sally Black, the eldest daughter of living legend Mary Holiday Black, is responsible for both preserving and stimulating the resurgence of Navajo weaving. This basket is made of the natural fibers willow and sumac and colored with Native and analin dyes. It depicts the Navajo creation myth of the Navajo emergence from the lower world. It is unsigned and it has a large 24" diameter.
