This is a lovely Koshare Tewa Clown Katsina with dog by Neil David, Sr. This piece has been painstakingly hand-carved out of cottonwood root. At the Hopi dances, Koshares come bearing gifts for the children. If you notice the back of the katsina, you will see the miniature katsina doll tucked in the back of the Koshare's belt that will be gifted to a little Hopi girl. Artist Neil David, Sr. depicts Koshares often in his carvings possibly because he is a Koshare Clown at the Hopi dances. 12" tall.
