Mela Youngblood Blackware Jar

C1267
From a famed family of Santa Clara potters, Mela Youngblood is the daughter of Margaret Tafoya and the mother of Nancy Youngblood and Nathan Youngblood. Now deceased, Mela created pottery that is increasingly sought after. This highly polished blackware jar with a carved Avanyu motif is in perfect condition. It measures 11" diameter x 5" high and is from the Elaine Horwich Collection. In 1978, the jar won 2 first-prizes; at SWAIA and at the Gallup Inter-tribal Ceremonial. We have the two blue ribbons.
