The one Pueblo potter that even many non-collectors have heard of is the famed Maria Martinez. This large black on black feather plate is a prime example of how great her pottery is. Marie and Julian created the piece with its wide feather pattern derived from Mimbres pottery. The plate is in excellent condition with a near mirror finish. It measures 13" diameter. circa 1930. It is signed "Marie" meaning it was made by Maria Martinez and painted by Julian. It was last purchased for $14,500, and is a substantial savings now selling way below that retail price.
