Here is an outstanding silver concho belt by Leroy Begay accented with natural deep red coral cabs. The silver conchos are very well finished with a great deal of excellent file or chisel work & stamping. Leroy Begay is a very good Navajo jeweler from a fairly remote area of the Navajo country at Pinon. He seldom appears at shows. He was taught silverwork by his brother-in-law, Victor Beck. We have visited Leroy Begay many times in Pinon at the Beck Family sheep camp. Leroy's belt has 5 conchos that each measure 3 1/4" diameter and 6 Butterfly spacers that measure 3" tall x 1 1/2" wide. The buckle is a big concho with a clasp, and it measures 4 5/8 wide x 3" tall. The belt is signed and dated "03-01-1998". It is an easy and attractive weight to wear.
