When we were on one of our field trips, we met with Navajo artist Leroy Begay out at the Beck Family sheep camp. Leroy was offering these naja necklaces. Most everyone there thought that they were great, affordable pieces of handmade jewelry, so we had to draw names out of a hat to see who was lucky enough to get the chance to purchase one of Leroy Begay's sought-after necklaces. Fortunately, since Marti was the host of the field trip, she got two - one for herself, and one to offer here. The necklace has a silver naja set with coral and a dangling coral center attached by a braided leather cord. It is really a choker and hangs 7 1/4". The pendant measures 1 1/2" wide x 1 1/2" tall. It is signed "L. Begay".
