This striking large jar is by Hopi potter (and jeweler) Daisy Hooee Nampeyo, granddaughter of Nampeyo of Hano. Polychrome, the white-slipped piece is beautifully painted with two birds. Interestingly, once Daisy Nampeyo married famous silversmith Leo Poblano and moved to Zuni, she continued to use Hopi clay and Hopi motifs in her pottery. She completed this piece circa 1970. It measures 13" diameter by 7 1/2" high. It is in very good condition and is signed on the bottom. Another part of our spring pottery sale.
