With this special jar, Jake Koopee has painted a highly imaginative image of a shalako mana, which is a Hopi spirit that is associated with water. In the arid Hopi environment, water is of utmost importance, so Jake frequently paints elements of jars to symbolize water. Always an innovator, Jake has specifically painted this piece so that the head of the shalako mana is the opening of the jar - quite an interesting faceless effect. The piece is polychrome with the majority of the colors painted at the top of the shalako mana's headpiece. The jar measures 5 1/4" diameter x 3 3/4" high. It is signed "Koopee" with a painted flute player symbolizing one of Jake's clans.
Sorry, this piece has sold.
