While they look old, these Joclas or Jaclas are actually handmade by contemporary artist Ray Lovato of Santo Domingo or Kewa pueblo. Ray Lovato has won numerous awards for the necklaces and earrings that he creates by hand in the traditional manner using only the very finest natural turquoise. These joclas are made of natural Cripple Creek turquoise that has been carefully graduated in size. They feel so good in your hands. Accenting the turquoise is spondylus shell corn and a tiny bit of coral near the top. They hang 10 1/2" from the string and the stone portion is a full 5 1/2". The string is knotted. Tie around your neck as a choker or tie onto your Pueblo necklace to wear as traditional joclas. You can even have them more finished into a necklace with clasps. They're truly magnificent and even more so in our Summertime Steals sale at 40% off!
