Here is a third pair of Hopi overlay earrings with a parrot motif. This pair is a little bit more refined than our other two. The dangling silver overlay parrot earrings were handmade by Hopi jeweler Ramon Dalangyawma. With the overlay technique, a second sheet of silver with a cutout pattern is placed on top of a bottom sheet of silver. As in this pair of earrings, certain areas of the design are oxidized and turned black for high contrast. These earrings dangle 1 1/2" with a 3/4" width. They are signed "Dalangyawma" and "Sterling", and they date circa 1980's. Our earring extravaganza actually has three contrasting Hopi parrot design earrings.
