A finely painted polychrome pottery jar by Elizabeth and Marcellus Medina, Zia Pueblo, signed and dated 2006. This is an exceptionally pretty pot in its usage of motifs and color combinations. The vessel is painted with two female figures, a ceremonial dancer, flowers and native New Mexican butterflies. Dancing around the upper wall of the vessel is a series of flute players. Only in the past few years have Zia potters been given permission to paint butterfies. Ex Richard Howard Collection. Richard Howard was one of the great collectors of Southwestern Pueblo pottery. 9" h x 8 1/4" diameter.
