This is an outstanding little pottery jar by Hopi potter Dextra Quotskuyva. The thin walled jar has four gorgeously painted birds and prayer feathers. Like all of Dextra's pottery, this piece was handmade in the traditional way - natural clay was dug from the nearby earth and then hand-coiled, painted using natural pigment, and fired out-of-doors with dung. The jar measures 5 1/2" diameter and 3 1/4" high. It is signed "Dextra" with corn.
