Dextra Quotskuyva Fine Line Migration Jar

X6286
Marti Struever believes that this rare style is the most difficult to find of all Dextra Quotskuyva's jars. Specifically, this is Dextra Quotskuyva's fine line, migration design. The polychrome jar is completely handmade in the traditional Hopi manner. Every single one of those lines has been painted by hand. Dextra only created jars like this for a limited period of time. Notice how Dextra's lines connect with the side of each bird wing painting - she is the only artist to undertake such an effort. Other Hopi artists have their bird wings painted in a free-form fashion. The piece is signed "Dextra Quotskuyva (Nampeyo)". Dextra only signed her work with the "Nampeyo" for a short period of time, so we know the jar dates circa 1975. This rare beauty measures 6 1/4" high with a 6 1/4" diameter.
Sorry, this piece has sold.
