One of a trio of Pueblo warriors that together won the judges choice at Heard Market 2011. This one is a crouching Cochiti warrior and is by esteemed contemporary potters Lisa Holt and Harlan Reano. Lisa Holt, of Cochiti Pueblo, forms the pottery by hand while her husband, Harlan Reano, of Santo Domingo Pueblo, paints the designs. They use traditional methods like hand digging their clays from the earth, wood firing and natural paint pigments like wild spinach for the black. Ready for action, this warrior awaits in a crouched pose with arms spread wide. Details like spikes that run from the warrior's head down his back, are exciting! This is the reason that Lisa Holt and Harlan Reano have won numerous awards and have work displayed in the National Museum of the American Indian. The black and cream warrior comes on a custom made, museum quality mount so that it will stand perfectly. It stands 11 1/2" tall plus a 1/2" stand and a 6" width. Signed "Lisa Holt and Harlan Reano".
