Yes, this special bear fetish was handcarved by the late Leekya Deyuse, the most famous of all Zuni fetish carvers. It has the classic slightly turned head that only Leekya could do along with the head shape, mouth and ears characteristic of his work. Leekya took two sides of a spondylus shell to depict a bear that can be seen differently from either side - one side is a white bear, the other side is a bear with a deep purple brown coat. Tiny turquoise eyes complete the piece. It is unsigned, which is typical for Leekya's work. It measures 3 1/4" long x 1 3/4" high.
