This small hide pouch is Kiowa, ca 1890. Pouches of this sort were used to carry paint or stones for striking a fire. It has been finished on both sides with glass bead motifs that are original 19th century beads. The beads include reds with white hearts, greasy yellow and greasy blue, and three sequins are attached. The bag is 4 3/4" long and 2 3/4" wide and tied with a hide strip.
Part of our summertime steals.
