An outstanding Zuni olla dating circa 1880-1890. This classic polychrome Zuni jar is well painted with extensive motifs on the upper shoulder and gorgeous rosettes that are a unique Zuni motif. Most important, though, are the deer. Normally, Zuni potters painted black animals. Unique to this particular jar are red deer. The olla is unrestored, and it meaures 10" height x 14" diameter. It comes from the ex-Larry Frank collection. Larry Frank was a well-known collector of American Indian and Spanish Colonial artwork, who lived in Arroyo Hondo, New Mexico.
