Here is an incredible buckle by Navajo artists Carl and Irene Clark. The Yei figure in the middle of the buckle has been painstakingly hand inlaid by Carl and Irene Clark, who are famous for their mircofine inlay. They work together to handcut, assemble and inlay the tiny stones. The rainbowman Yei on this buckle is a recurring theme in their work. They say that it represents "jewelry of protection". Carl and Irene Clark's amazing inlay jewelry is truly wearable artwork - the inlay portion is like a picture and the handmade tufacast silverwork is like the picture frame. The buckle measures 3" long x 1 7/8" wide. The inlay portion measures 1 1/4 square inch. It fits a 1 5/8" belt. The back of the piece has a large cast eagle.
