Hopi Patty Maho Bowl with Sikyatki Parrots

M6363
Here is a large polychrome bowl by Hopi artist Patty Maho who lived from 1903-1993. Patty Maho did not go to school, so she spoke only Tewa. It appears that Patty quit working in the 1970’s. She appears in the book "Contemporary Hopi Pottery by Laura Graves Allen". This bowl is quite large and beautifully painted with a Sikyatki motif of a pair of parrots facing one another. The stylized bird motif was first popularized by Nampeyo of Hano. The bowl is very large measuring 12" diameter x 3 5/8" height. It is also quite heavy. It's a striking piece. Signed Maho on the reverse under the fire cloud.
